Inquiries have increased for small seed orders on our website, so we've decided to try and help temporarily fill small seed order gaps in our area for hobby farmers.
If you are a small scale or hobby oyster grower located in the Middle Peninsula area, (Mathews, Gloucester & Middlesex) and need to place a seed order at a larger size at quantities of 500-10,000, please find more information below! If you are an oyster farm with an order of 10,000 or more, you are in the wrong place and need to place your seed order here.
Seed Soirée
Oyster Seed Holdings is partnering with TOGA during our National Oyster Weekend Celebration to host a Seed Soiree on August 7, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at our location at 425 Callis Wharf Road, Grimstead, VA 23064.
The pickup window will be during The Hatchery Food Truck's Operating Hours, 5pm to sunset. Oyster Farmers must make their orders in advance using our online order form where they will select their quantity, diploid or triploid, contact & payment information. Registrants will receive email confirmation of their order and instructions for the event.

ABOUT TOGA
The Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA) is a non-profit organization established in 1997 to promote the environmental health of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries through oyster cultivation and by other means, and as a way of enjoying Virginia oysters. Oysters, being filter feeders, remove bacteria and sediments, making the local environment cleaner habitats for marine life. The improved water quality encourages seagrass growth, which creates better habitats for fish. Our main goal is to educate interested citizens of all ages in oyster aquaculture methods. FAQ's for the Seed Pick up Day
What should I bring?
Please bring a cooler or bucket to transport your seed home. If you plan to stay for dinner, consider bringing an ice pack wrapped in a towel to keep the oysters at a good temperature. TOGA will be present on pickup day to offer educational materials and some growing supplies.
What if I don't live nearby?
If you can't make our event, TOGA has an online excellent seed supply list of seed suppliers in the Tidewater Region. Please reach out to a supplier within your area. We are sorry but we will not be shipping or holding seed outside of this event date.
What is the largest size available?
We will have triploid seed available that is roughly 1/4 inch in size or 6mm. We will also have diploid seed roughly 1/2 inch to 1 inch in size. Customers can order a minimum quantity of 500, and no more than 10,000. If you require a larger order, please visit our customer order form.
What stock is available?
We give growers the choice between diploid and triploid oysters, however, we cannot provide options for broodstock at this time. Growers will be provided whichever broodstock is healthiest and available in our commercial facility.
